| You can treat an infected finger by giving the person antibiotics, but if you don't remove the splinter which is causing the problem, the infection will just come back again. The same logic applies on the intellectual level - embarking on a coaching program without uncovering the underlying reason for any problems can mean that you spend a lot of time, money and effort helping your child, yet make little progress with the original problem.
Before we start coaching we do a diagnostic assessment to ascertain your child's level of proficiency on a wide range of different skills. We then examine the thinking strategies your child uses to learn with so we can determine the cause of any problems and prepare the most appropriate program of remediation. In this way we can fix most educational problems quickly and effectively.
In fact, we recommend that all children, whether they appear to be having problems with their school work or not, have a complete diagnostic assessment by the age of 10 or 11 to ensure that they have mastered all the basic skills necessary for success in junior high school. There are many intelligent students who only get average grades in primary school because they have undiagnosed learning problems, symptoms of which often don't show up until high school.
Now that you are aware of the importance of ensuring your child has all the basic learning skills to be successful at school, you can now obtain more detailed information about specific areas of primary education such as reading, maths, emotional difficulties and so on, by clicking on the
