Achieving Excellence Through Independent Learning
Before finding out about specific areas of high school education take the time to consider a few things which apply to all students.

The main goal of high school education is to teach students how to learn independently of their teachers so that they are ready for tertiary education, and are properly prepared for a challenging and rewarding career.

To become an independent learner the student must be able to read and process information in a sophisticated manner, and then communicate it clearly to someone else. This is quite different from what was expected at primary school level where the emphasis was on remembering basic facts. Many intelligent students get low grades in high school because they don't understand this difference and so are trying hard in the wrong direction. Getting poor grades, no matter how hard they try, can cause such students to lose confidence in their ability to learn. This often leads to the student losing the motivation to work.

Becoming an independent learner is a straightforward process. We teach the high powered reading and mental processing skills which will enable your child to turn information into knowledge, quickly and easily. While it is never too late, the best time to learn these skills is in grade 9 because it is important that your child is doing well in all subjects by the end of year 10. This is the time when subjects are chosen for senior high school and ultimately tertiary study.

Properly prepared, your child will get good grades in all subjects easily, and find the excellent courses available to them in senior high school an enjoyable challenge.
