This  leaves  on·ly·  1/6 of ^ the  po·pu·la·tion·  who ^ are  ra·ted·  as  good  rea·ders·  or  ve·ry·  good  rea·ders· .

These  sta·ti·stics·  mean  that  if  your  child  is  on·ly·  an  a·ve·rage·  rea·der· , then  he /she  needs  help . What's  more , poor  rea·ding·  skills  im·pact·  di·rect·ly·  on  a  child's  a·bi·li·ty·  to  learn  in  o·ther· ^ a·re·as· , e·spe·cia·lly·  from  grade  5 on·wards· . As  a  re·sult· , ma·ny· ^ chil·dren·  are  con·si·dered·  to  be  just  a·ve·rage·  stu·dents·  by  their ^ tea·chers· , when  re·a·lly·  they ^ have  the  po·ten·tial·  to  be  do·ing· ^ much  be·tter·  at  school .
